My 5 Favorite Doms + Life’s A Beach Giveaway Hop

Posted May 12, 2020 by Rita in Bookish Life / 120 Comments

I promised y’all a while ago that I would share my favorite Doms in the romance books world. I planned on listing my top five favorite and I will but, I had to bring in a few others that were screaming they be mentioned. I also have a great giveaway and hop for you as well. The hop is thanks to The Mommy Island and The Kids Did It . Good luck in all of the giveaways you enter.

The Doms listed below are in no particular order and I share why I love each one. Please be aware though the things they do in their books is for entertainment purposes only. Please don’t assume any dom you happen to meet in real life is going to be this awesome. Just thought I would put that out there.

1. Ian Taggert

Ian Taggert is my all time favorite dom. He is! I just love him for so many reasons but mostly how much he has changed through the course of the series. Yet he is still the same. He makes no excuses for who and what he is. He rarely, if ever apologizes, and it drives him crazy that his sister in-law calls him Satan. I love how fun he is at times as well. He’s funny, I mean what other boss would offer to get you a cotton candy machine with a stripper to feed it to you and call it Fun Fridays?

2. Ace Tyler

Ace had so much going for him. His tall (I’m short and love tall guys), he’s the sheriff, and he knows just what a girl needs. I love that he tries to protect Hope because he thinks he is too dark in his needs. He takes his duties seriously and I don’t know there is just something abut him. He always knows what is going on in his town and is rather handy with those handcuffs.

3. Drake Morgan

The most famous book dom was not here because honestly, he didn’t do it for me. It may be because I read about Drake first. While Drake has issues he was much more mature and knew what he wanted. He wasn’t so much the abused little boy who learned to control things beyond his control. S. E. Lund introduced me to the world of BDSM in books so the Unrestrained series has a special place in my heart.

4. Blake Coleman

Blake’s wife and long time sub died from cancer and he’s still struggling. He owns a BDSM Club and does well. He logs into his wife’s blog and gets a message from “LanieLove” telling him how sorry she is. They make a connection and I love the way he helps her. They chat back and forth almost everyday. She helps him move beyond is grief. When they learn they are bane of each other’s existence in real life things get heated. Blake is kind of dom every girl wants. He’s strict when needed but fair. He genuinely cares.

5. Logan Hunt

Logan is a vet with PTSD, so he and his brother buy a mountain lodge. A lodge that caters to both the vanilla and those with a little more kink. Not to mention the families (not at the same time!) On one such weekend Logan meets Rebecca who is there with her swinger boyfriend. Logan may think he’s too messed up for a woman but he certainly has the Dom “I’m in charge” down. I love how he lets the swingers know Rebecca is anything but frigid. A side note..shouldn’t you know your boyfriend is a swinger like after a few dates? I’m just saying.

Honorable Mentions

I love Sophie Oak who happens to be Lexi Blake! Each of these books have amazing characters but since we are talking about doms let me share my thoughts. Stefan Talbot is the King of Bliss. Just ask his wife, she tells him that all the time. He is the billionaire who helps keeps things going. He came to Bliss as a child and made the townspeople his family. He is stubborn and struggles but I loved this book. Jack Barnes has a husband and wife. Both of whom are his subs too. He is certainly a take charge kind of guy. He’s not afraid to compact your car into a tiny square cube either or throw your panties out of the window. All of that doesn’t happen in the first book of the series but be sure to read the second. Then there is Julian Lodge! He also has a husband and wife. You have to read this series beyond his book because his reactions towards kids is so funny later. He’s like Jack in that he takes charge. It’s easy to see why they are friends.

Xavier owns Dark Haven and is known as My Liege. He is strict and more of a full time master/slave kind of guy. He can be a bit much and hard hearted at times. I just loved him. Slay was the first “daddy” I read about and I admit I wasn’t too sure. I mean I’m from the south when I say daddy I mean the man who shares my dna. It was weird for me the first read but after I was able to set aside my personal hangups I loved the book. Blade is the kind of dom that has a blindfold in his pocket at all times. He owns Club Desire with his two business partners. He also lives there and he is a rather strict dom.

I don’t have a one favorite, but I like a lot of the ones on your list; thanks for the giveaway. 🙂

  2. Shareena McKinzy

I don’t have any favorites yet. I just started opening up my mind to different genres of books. I’m enjoying it thus far.

  3. Gabrielle

I haven’t read any of these. Probably my favorite would be in an unpublished (for now) novel a writer friend of mine recently finished. I’ll let you know when it’s out there.

  4. Tamra Phelps

Hmm, I really don’t read a lot of the books with doms. I can’t stand the most famous one that you mentioned…at least I assume you were talking about Mr. Grey, lol. I’ve never understood the popularity of that series. I’m more into the books with humor and maybe mystery involved.

    • Yes, I was talking about Mr. Grey. I know a lot of people love him but he just ins’t for me. Almost all of the books I mentioned involve some sort of mystery as well. I like the suspense and mystery to keep the story going. Drake’s story doesn’t but there is plenty of drama to keep it going. Logan’s story doesn’t either but the story line is so great.

  5. Molli Taylor

i dont have a favorite book dom because i didnt know this was a thing! i will check these out!

    • It is a thing. I would suggest you dip your toes in carefully. You can find all sorts of books Doms and some of them may not be for you. For a first timer I would highly recommend Cherise Sinclair and Lexi Blake because they both have books that ease you into it. Leah Brooke does as well.

  6. Nina Lewis

Cherise Sinclair has some of my favorites, actually: Dr Z & Nolan are my top two I think! 🙂

    • Love Dr z! Nolan is pretty awesome too and lets not forget my favorite enforcer DeVries. Although he is a bit hardcore for me.

  7. Dandi D

I don’t really have a favorite, but I really like reading non-fiction and historical fiction.

  8. I don’t have a favorite, but from your list, I’d pick Blake Coleman. From the description, he seems like the character I’d fall for….

  9. Margaret Smith

I don’t really have a favorite, but love the ones you chose. I guess I like someone with a sense of humor, built, kind and confident.

  10. Sandy KLocinski

I don’t really have any favorite. Awesome list though. I’m more into something sweeter

  11. Cheryl B

As crazy as this may sound I just began reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

  12. tammy ta

I really don’t have a fave. sorry. I read all diff. all over the place. I’m crazy like that. lol

  13. heather

I really don’t have a favorite but some of the ones you listed sound super good and ones I so need to check out.

  14. Susan Smith

I don’t have a favorite, I read a variety of books. Right now I’m reading Becoming by Michele Obama and I’m really enjoying it.

  15. Christy Peeples DuBois

I do not have a favorite. This isn’t the usual genre I read however after reading a number of your reviews I am sure I would enjoy them. I will have to read one soon.

  16. Pauline Milner

It would be nearly impossible for me to pick a favorite genre or even a favorite book. I read six or seven books at the same time and they run of the gamut of nonfiction/fiction, antique/old/new and new/established authors. I also love obscure books that hold treasures inside! Thanks for offering this super giveaway opportunity! With this prize, I could get several books off of my wish list on Amazon!

    • Ace is so great! I actually just read the followup book of his. Leah Brooke does a “More Desire” series where each couple gets a followup and he is tough in it but just as great.

  17. Alona Y

I don’t have a specific favorite but Ian sounds like the right type, being fun and funny is such a great part of the whole dynamic.

  18. Barrie

I’ll have to check out Ian…he sounds great! My favorite is Bryce Halsey in Unfair Advantage!

  19. Donna L Cheatle

OMG it’s so funny that Ian Taggart is your number 1, because that’s exactly who came to mind while I was reading this post! Ian definitely has it all going on! I am unfamiliar with quite a few of the books/series you have listed here. I probably need to win the $100 so I can put them all on my kindle, lol

    • I love that you thought of Ian as well. There are so many people who just love him. This post has been so popular and fun that I may be doing another giveaway of all the books listed so make sure you keep watching.

  20. Bernie Wallace

Logan Hunt is my favorite Dom. Unfortunately I have not read many books in this genre. Making an attempt to read more.

  21. Lauren Becker

I don’t believe I have a favorite. Though I have to say I read Drake Morgan and immediately read it as Derek Morgan – like the character from Criminal Minds. LOL

  22. Bryan Vice

My daughter & son loves reading so i built them a reading nook in the corner of out living room and let them decorate so it could be their own

  23. Audrey Stewart

I don’t really have a favorite, but I plan on checking out the ones you have listed here. I really enjoyed this post.

  24. Annette

I don’t have a favorite…yet. I just started reading again, after many years of forgetting about my love of it. I’d forgotten all about these types of books, but now you have me wanting to find one. I know I love dom characters in movies and TV shows. How’d I forget about them in books?!
